Gas measurements on board bulk carriers

The participants learn everything needed for the selection, operation and deployment of instruments for direct detection and concentration measurement of gases and vapours on board bulk carriers.

The training focuses on persons responsible for measurement tasks for the protection of persons and installations and the release of ship's holds and confined spaces.

Theory:

• Ex-Ox-Tox Hazards
• gas hazards in bulk carriers
• recognition of fumigants that have been fumigated
• gas behaviours known gases
• legal limits
• measurement principles
• measurement strategy

Practice:

• operation of personal meters and release meters
• preparation of measuring equipment and accessories
• bump tests
• measuring on test rigs or on a bulk carrier itself (if safely possible)
• reporting of the measured values

If desired, the course is concluded with a theory and/or practical exam.

In order to have the highest possible learning efficiency and sufficient personal attention for the participants, we work with a limited group size.

After passing the exam, the participant receives a certificate with a validity of 3 years.

The frequency for refresher training is set at once every 3 years. The participant will be invited in time for a refresher course.
